SUSPENSION TUNING
A crucial part of racing motocross is the bike set up, especially when racing at national level. The bikes suspension needs to be set up and altered for weather conditions, track conditions and track type. This requires great knowledge about how suspension works and how it should be altered.
The main alterations I do during track testing are adjustments to:
-Oil Height
-Rebound damping
-Compression damping
-Race Sag adjustment
-Static Sag Adjustment
-Fork Height
Off the track in the workshop the forks are regularly stripped down and serviced replacing the oil, seals and checking the suspension for any signs of wear or damage.
The video below shows me racing after the making all the necessary adjustments for the track in order to decrease lap times and improve race position.
